This programme, on the theme of the Motet, is centred around one of Bach's most beautiful smaller works, Komm, Jesu, komm. Also included will be a group of well-known motets by Stanford, Justorum animae, Caelos ascendit hodie and Beati quorum via, a couple of motets by Bruckner including Locus Iste, Durufle's Four motets on a Gregorian theme, two motets by Poulenc, Heilig by Mendelssohn and Ich aber bin elend by Brahms. More modern composers represented include James MacMillan's stunning O radiant dawn, Bernard Hughes's joyful Jubilate Domino and Arvo Part's magical The Deer's Cry.
