Robert Patterson is Director of Music and Organist at St Etheldreda's Church Holborn, Conductor of the Fulham and Hammersmith Choral Society, an Associated Board examiner, and a freelance piano and organ accompanist. He is also on the music staff at Guildford High School and Organist at Holy Trinity Church, Guildford. As well as a music degree (with an organ scholarship at Peterhouse) from the University of Cambridge, he also has a Master's degree from the University of York in Baroque performance practice. Robert has attained the highest performance diploma of Fellowship in both solo organ (FRCO, awarded with the Turpin and Durrant prizes for performance) and solo piano (FRSM, awarded with merit).
As an organist, he has held positions at Hampton Court Palace, New College, Oxford, York Minster and Winchester Cathedral, and from 2005-2008 Robert was the principal Organist at Canterbury Cathedral where he played for the daily services, tours, recordings and broadcasts. From 2022-2024 Robert performed the complete organ works of J S Bach in monthly recitals at St Mary's Church, Battersea.
