François Cloete is organ scholar at Hereford Cathedral for the academic year 2021-22. His duties include accompanying the Cathedral Choir and Voluntary Choir, conducting for occasional services, and assisting in the musical training of the choristers.
Prior to this François was junior organ scholar at Wells Cathedral, in conjunction with his studies as a specialist musician at Wells Cathedral School. Highlights included winning the School Organists' Association's first organ competition and appearing on national television as an accompanist for the BBC Young Musician woodwind final. During this time François received five A* grades at A-level and later this year he will matriculate at Merton College, Oxford to read music as an organ scholar.
At the age of 19 François received his Fellowship Diploma from the Royal College of Organists (FRCO), winning three prizes for highest marks in performance, paperwork, and the whole examination. François studies organ repertoire privately with Daniel Moult.
