Dvořák: Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op.53
Mendelssohn: Symphony No.3 in A minor, op.56 Scottish

Ludlow Orchestra is pleased to welcome guest conductor Jonathan Lyness, Music Director of Mid Wales Opera and Opera Project and Associate Artist of Longborough Festival Opera.

The violinist Susanne Stanzeleit joins us to perform Dvorak's wonderful violin concerto, full of Bohemian life and vigour. Susanne has performed worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician and has recorded more than 30 critically acclaimed CDs. She teaches violin and chamber music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

The concert opens with Beethoven's powerful and popular work, the Egmont Overture — classic Beethoven angst and triumph! And in the second half we perform Mendelssohn's mighty Scottish Symphony. Jonathan Lyness describes this as ‘a gutsy work but also sweepingly romantic with moments of great beauty, particularly in the slow movement.’

Tickets, £12 (u16 free) from Ludlow Assembly Rooms Box Office, online HERE, The Wool Shop, members of the orchestra or at the door
